S2

In S2, we begin to look at Buddhism. Classes will study the origins of the religion, stories about the Buddha, beliefs within Buddhism, and Buddhists in Scotland.

The Buddhist principle of doing no harm leads into our next topic, which is Animal Welfare. We examine animals being used as food, in experiments, and various viewpoints on the issue. Pupils will then complete a poster presentation raising awareness of their own point of view about animal welfare.

The third topic covered in S2 is Hinduism. Lessons include the Hindu gods, reincarnation and karma, worship, and main Hindu beliefs. We look at the life of Gandhi, who lived his life by these principles. Students will be asked to create a timeline of Gandhi’s life, including the main events and protests he was a part of.
