In S1 we start to look at the big questions, that everybody asks. RME is about how we look at the world around us, how we form opinions and ideas, and where other people get their beliefs from.
We start off by looking at ultimate questions – how did we get here, is there a god, how did the world begin?
We go on to study different creation stories, including Christianity, Hinduism, Aboriginal, Chinese, and the scientific theory of the Big Bang.
Then we start our Christianity in Scotland section – and how this has had an impact on our laws and society. We go way back in history to the time of St Andrew, and end up in modern day Scotland. Students will complete a project at home about the topic.
After Christmas, all of S1 take part in the “Inspire Aspire” project, which results in some amazing pieces of work each year.
Finally, we examine the work of different charities, and students work together in groups to complete a presentation on a charity of their choice.
