Congratulations to our team of staff and pupils, who took part in the St Andrew’s Hospice 6k Fun Run, last week. The group had a great morning at Strathclyde Park while, at the same time raising much needed funds, for this very worthwhile cause.

A group of S3 boys enjoyed a great week at Firereach. Like the girls’ group last week, the boys took part in a range of activities focusing on teamwork, challenge and self-belief.

A group of S6 pupils took part in a two-day teambuilding event, in Lochgoilhead. During the event, the pupils took part in gorge walking, climbing and abseiling, all of which were challenging but satisfying experiences. Thanks to Mrs Kerr and Mr Reilly for accompanying the group.

Our House Captains have now been appointed, as follows:

Antonine – Abbie Rankin, Murray Wilson.

Balmalloch – Lauren Miller, Ross Stewart

Colzium – Lauryn Macniven, Robbie Brown

Dumbreck – Holly McArthur, Grant Douglas.

The Parent Council is hosting a Parent Workshop entitled ‘Is Your Child Safe On-Line?’. It will take place on Thursday 6th October, at 7.00 p.m. and will be led by a member of Police Scotland. We are hoping for a large turnout of parents to hear about this very important issue. During the evening, there will be a short AGM of the Parent Forum. This will also be the next meeting of the Parent Council.

Pupils in S1 had a great ‘Welcome Event’ last week, participating in a range of activities, including an indoor adventure course and House activities. The adventure course was also a sponsored event, to help raise funds towards this session’s S1 Residential trip, in June.

S4 Tracking Reports have been issued, together with invitations to the S4 Parents’ Evening, on Tuesday 4th October, from 4.15 – 6.45 p.m. This will be an opportunity for teachers and parents to discuss targets for the year ahead and jointly support pupils to achieve their potential.
