3Sixty Visit

Today all Ladywell Primary pupils got to watch a cycling stunt show from a company called 3Sixty. The children got to watch the display in our playground and were amazed at the daring stunts that the team performed. They also learned more about how to develop their cycling skills and how to keep themselves safe when cycling.

This was a great event to kick start our involvement in The Big Pedal, which officially starts on Monday 20th March.  For this we are trying to encourage as many pupils to cycle or scoot to school between the 20th and 31st of March to be in with a chance of winning lots of amazing prizes.

We will celebrate our achievements on the 31st of March with and Superhero Active Travel Breakfast for P3-7’s. Remember to return your tear-off slip to Miss McGhee by 24th of March.

3Sixty Visit – JRSO and Bike Crew Skills Session

Today the JRSO’s and the Bike crew took part in a skills workshop from the 3Sixty bike team. They learned lots about balance and control and tested their skills in a slow race! The last across the finish line without putting their feet on the ground was the winner. Look at some of our pictures below.

IBike ‘Active Travel’ Breakfast

This morning our school hosted it’s very first ‘Active Travel’ Breakfast. It was huge success with pupils from P4-6 and their siblings – cycling, scooting or walking to school to receiving a lovely breakfast in the Yellow Tree Diner. Thank you to all of the adults who helped to serve food and drinks for children and parents who attended.

Also, thank you to everyone who came along and we hope you enjoyed the event!

A special thanks goes to Claire, our IBike officer, who provided the lovely spread of food.

Welcome!

Welcome to Ladywell Primary’s JRSO blog. This year we will keep you up to date about road safety events and competitions going on in the school.

At the end of last year our Primary 7 and Primary 6 JRSO’s held interviews with some enthusiastic Primary 5’s who fancied a shot at becoming the schools brand new Primary 6 JRSO for session 2016-2017.  The interviews went very well and we now have our volunteers for this year.

Both boys are thrilled to be involved in raising awareness of road safety issues at Ladywell Primary.
