38 sixth year students at St. Aidan’s High School have donated at least a pint of blood that will contribute to life saving transfusions around Scotland. Valentine’s Day at St. Aidan’s High School was full of anxious but extremely enthusiastic sixth year students as they plucked up the courage to give blood, most being first time donors.
There were one or two already experienced donors more than willing to give blood all over again. Given the best treatment as they were serenaded with chocolate and sugary drinks after all their kindness and bravery. However, for a few students giving blood was not easy, they were so determined to donate at least a pint of blood they managed to pull through and give their all to help make a difference around Scotland and encourage other young people to donate blood and become donors. Some inspirational words from students who have donated. “I felt good after it because I was giving blood to someone I know needs it, and to think that I might need it myself one day.” Another student also said “I can’t stress enough how much it means to be able to give blood as a healthy teenager, it saved someone close to me, and so… to say thanks I wanted to give back.”
Great post, Kenza! Well done S6. 😍
