Reading Aloud

First year Students in St Aidan’s High school have been helping out in their local Primary schools by reading aloud to younger children.

The Project began with St Aidan’s librarian Miss McGough going into Drama classes to encourage children to participate in the project.

After that they participated in lessons on Vocal expression, Voice projection band reading clearly but dramatically. The intrepid Second years, who had shown enthusiasm and skill for reading aloud were equipped with books kindly provided by the Wishaw Library ans sent back to there local Primaries. The Project, on top of building confidence and lifelong skills for its participants has given the students the chance to reengage with their buddies after last seeing them a year ago. Miss McGough said “Its wonderful to see First year Students read aloud to Primary two pupils and its heartwarming to see the Primary twos respond with delight and affection when seeing there former buddies.”
