Tumbling For Gold

The Scottish championships took place the 30th of September in Perth Scotland. Our very own Ellie Burke took part in the difficult completion and her performance was splendid as she pleased the whole community with her startling skills.

The competition was at a high competitive standard in trampoline, tumbling and DMT-double mini trampoline- the competition was crowded with young girls from areas all over Scotland striving to be the prime young gymnast in Scotland.

Ellie currently is a team player at Hamilton gymnastics club and really enjoys the coaching there. Being pushed to her limits to give the best possible result in completion and helped push towards this latest peak in her sporting career.

Ellie trains for tumbling an hour a half a week mainly on a Tuesday and throughout the week for other aspects of gymnastics as she is very passionate about the sport and is hoping to become a coach herself in the future.

Still only in third year of education Ellie’s first priority is school as her education comes first. To keep this good standard of work Ellie at times has to put her love for gymnastics aside and put her head down before she can enjoy herself. As she already must struggle enough with the pressure of school she also has her social life to battle for as well.

Pushing for the gold Ellie succeeded in her goals and made her supporting family, friends, team members and St Aidan’s high school extremely proud of her and this achievement. Mr Dunnery head of the PE department and Ellie’s former pupil support teacher said:

“Having known Ellie for a while I know she is really hard working and the PE department are very proud of her achievements”.

This shows that everyone has been really pleased with her success, well done Ellie and good luck in future.

  1. This is a good piece of reporting! Definitely the basis of part of the school press report. We should see it in the Wishaw Press soon.
