Emma McConville, a very talented S5 student from St. Aidan’s High School in Wishaw has recently represented our country and brought home a whopping silver medal, all the way from Budapest, Hungry.
Emma is part of the ‘Dynamics’ gymnastics team that regularly meet in The Ravenscraig which is located in Craigneuk. However, to make it all the way into the Scottish national team, Emma had to take part in a test trail and gain a certain amount of points to make the cut and be chosen to represent Scotland at Nationals. Gymnastics is Emma’s passion and she is certain that she will be pursuing this career further on in life. To take it as far as she possibly can, then hopefully take to coaching to share with and teach others her talents and become a mentor for young hopeful gymnasts in and around Scotland.
Sharing her secret into coping with her gymnastics and also her education without putting stress upon herself. Emma said she splits both into 2 and keeps both completely separate. She thinks of it as living two different lives. Before her competition’s she is restricted to and follows a very strict, no sugar diet and is required to eat as healthy as possible. Starting at the age of 7, Emma has come a long way and has dedicated the most recent 8 years of her life committed to and loving gymnastics and definitely does not regret one little bit of it.
Emma is thankful that her friends, family and coach all support and help her through everything, giving her the right motivation to try her best and stay focused at all times.
