About Us

                          

 

We opened in 1990 and are based in the wing of St Barbara’s primary school in Muirhead. We are open 50 weeks of the year providing a flexible service to young children and their families. In line with North Lanarkshire Council’s admission policy the centre can accommodate children from 2 to 5 years.

 

 

We provide a warm, safe, secure and stimulating environment. Our vision is to provide a nurturing, learning environment where everyone can be all they can be. We work in partnership with our families and the community to create a learning environment that provides children with opportunities and experiences to become secure in their own learning and develop skills for life.

 

 

Our accommodation is spacious, clean and bright. We have a large range of resources that are easily accessible for children indoors and outdoors. Our play spaces consists of:

  • Rainbow Room for children aged 2 years to 3 years.
  • Star Room for children aged 3 years to 5 years.
  • Sunshine Room for our ASN children.

 

 

We have  secure outdoor play areas that offer children opportunities for energetic play and learning, a large physical play space, access to the school Gym Hall, our own bike room to support The Play Together on Pedals programme and we are developing our very own Forest which offers children opportunities to explore nature.

 

                                                                    

 

We offer a holistic approach to care and learning consulting and planning with our children, parents/carers and cluster schools. We use curriculum for excellence and birth to 3 guidance to support our provision.

Our staff team are registered with Scottish Social Services Council and hold a range of professional qualifications such as BA Degree, H.N.C. and SVQ 3.

  • Lead Early Learning Practitioners
  • Early Learning and Childcare Keyworkers
  • Early Leaning and Childcare Support Workers
  • Clerical Assistants
  • We offer placements to HNC/NC students as well as Foundation Apprentices from local high schools and Modern Apprentices achieving their qualification through North Lanarkshire Councils programme.
