Nursery update

Thank you for your nursery donations, a total of £121.50 was received. We spent £98 purchasing snack and playdough supplies.

Can I remind everyone that Jigsaw is a NUT FREE ZONE. Please do not bring any products that may contain nuts into the building.

Thank you to the parents who have been helping us paint the fence. If you can spare some time just ask at the office for the supplies. Any dry day.

We are working closely with Chryston High School who are making us a sign for our ECO garden at the entrance to the nursery. Some of the children will be planting bulbs and discussing what to grow there. Watch this space.

The children in the star room have been talking and learning about feelings, and due to their interest in the baby shark song have been learning about sharks.

We are having a visit next week from Danielle our hygienist from the Childsmile programme. She will meet with all the children and talk about how they can keep their teeth clean. I wonder if she knows anything about Sharks teeth?

The nursery will be closed on Friday 21st and Monday 24th September.

The school October week is the 15th to 19th October. If you require childcare during this week please collect a form from the office.

A big welcome to our new families.

We have started to settle some new children and are pleased to report they have all been in good spirits and happy to attend. Some even crying when they leave. Its lovely to see the existing children helping to settle the new ones.

We wanted to remind everyone about bringing outdoor clothes as we are visiting the forest every week. The timetable for visits to the forest in on the forest room door and the notice board. Your keyworker will keep you right.

We are delighted that we managed to fund the additional fencing at the forest and hoped that some parents, friends, grans, grandpas, aunts or uncles would have a little time to help us paint the new slats.

We will provide the paint/brushes/tea and coffee.

Welcome to all our families, returning and new!  We are all settling well back into nursery.

Tesco has teamed up with Greenspace Scotland to deliver its Bags of Help initiative. The scheme sees three community groups and projects in each of around 200 Tesco regions awarded grants of £5,000, £2,000 and £1,000 – all raised from the 5p bag charge. Jigsaw has been chosen as one of these projects.
Bags of Help offers community groups and projects across the UK a share of revenue generated from the 5p charge levied on single-use carrier bags. The public will now vote in store from 1st to 31st December on who should receive the £5,000, £2,000 and £1,000 awards. Please make Jigsaw Family Learning Centre is one of the lucky recipients.

Jigsaw we have been chosen as one of the shortlisted groups for our ‘Creating a Children’s Forest’ project.

Please tell all your family and friends to vote for us in Tesco store from 1st December to 31st December.

Dear parents and carers

As we start the new term the children are showing a great interest in playing characters.

We are hoping some families could help us build up our resources by handing in any figures or soft toys e.g Power Rangers, Star Wars, Turtles, Paw Patrol, Mr Tumble etc that your child no longer uses. This will encourage the children’s imaginative and cooperative skills as they work together to create scenarios for their characters. The characters also provide a familiar link to home which supports some of our children as they settle into nursery.

We are also looking for smaller versions of ‘fancy’ shoes for our role play area. If you have an older child who has grown out of their dress shoes we would very much appreciate them.

Welcome everyone to Jigsaw Family Learning Centre. We are all amazed at how well the children have settled into their day and hope to share their learning with you and keep you up to date with nursery events via emails and on twitter. @jigsawFLC

To ensure we are delivering the service our families want, we have established a Parents Advisory Group which meets once a term to discuss and agree nursery events. To ensure all parents can get involved we are planning on having 2 groups this year a morning and afternoon group.

Please come along and support your nursery and be part of this group. The first meetings are on Tuesday 20th September at 11am and 1pm.

Jigsaw Family Learning Centre

We have a very talented bunch here at Jigsaw. Today we have seen great hula hooping, an amazing magician and some lovely singing! We’d like to say a big THANK YOU to Kenny who came along to play the guitar and sing with our children.

We had a great time at our potted sports day. The children all worked well together in their teams and the parents ran well too!

We had a great time at the party to celebrate all our children who will be returning after the summer break.

Thank you to everyone who came along to celebrate our children moving onto school. Also thank you to Helen for taking lovely photos on the day.
