Week Ending 30th October 2015

There were lots of spooky goings on in OLSF this week. On Monday we had two very successful Halloween Discos and raised a ‘spooktacular’ £400! Many thanks to our wonderful Parent Council for organising this event and giving so freely of their time to ensure that the evening ran smoothly.

On Tuesday, Mrs Taggart and Primary 6 pupils planted their daffodil bulbs as part of the Edina Trust Bulb Project. Mr Kavanagh came along to speak with the children about the project. Many thanks as always to Mr Kellman, our resident gardener!

Our Primary 7 pupils visited Taylor High School on Tuesday morning and enjoyed Art, Science, English or PE. Our pupils did us proud when representing our school and all enjoyed and participated fully in the experience.

On Friday afternoon we had our Halloween Parade.  All children had their five minutes of fame on the stage to show off their costumes to the rest of the school.  Staff joined in the festivities too and Mr Prentice took fantastic pictures of the afternoon, which can be seen in the Halloween 2015 post.

For our week ahead, our Primary 7 pupils will continue with their visits to Taylor High School on Tuesday. On Wednesday evening, Mr McCormick and Mrs McGraw from Taylor High School will be coming to the school to speak with Primary 7 parents at 7pm.

On Friday we are having our monthly First Friday Mass and coffee morning.  Our Primary 6 pupils will be leading the Liturgy and will host the coffee morning afterwards in our school hall.  As always, we will be looking for donations of shop bought cakes and biscuits and raffle prizes. During our Mass our Primary 6 pupils will be enrolled onto the Pope Francis Faith Award,  a very worthwhile Award and one I am sure our pupils will participate in very well.  We are hoping that some of our Primary 6 parents from both Primary 6 and Primary 6/7 can come along and see their child being enrolled at Mass.

Our November newsletter will be issued tomorrow – please check your child’s bag for this.
