It’s the last day Primary 7 will spend in Yorkshire (tomorrow will be spent travelling home). The sun is still shining and we’re off to Flamingo Land theme park for the day. Everyone’s really excited about the different rides and seeing the animals in the zoo… it could be the most popular day so far! But first… sausage, bacon and egg!

Just on our way back to the hotel after a fun evening at the bowling. Team 1 were the victors with a total of 633 points, closely followed by Team 2 with 629. Our top players tonight were:

We realised we didn’t answer P1’s question about old toys the other day. Yes, boys and girls, we did see some old Victorian toys at Beamish on Monday. We will try to find out what Viking children used to play with when we visit the Yorvik Centre today.

It was a nice surprise to hear from Mrs Murphy and Mrs Pollock, former colleagues from Woodlands Primary, who have also been keeping up-to-date with our Yorkshire adventures! Thanks for leaving us a message.

Finally, great to hear that Primary 6 have been using our trip to Yorkshire to inspire some learning of their own. Well done for finding us on the map and for discovering more about Scarborough castle! We’re very impressed!

It’s Day 3 of the P7 trip to Yorkshire. We’re heading to the beautiful city of York today and have a ghost walk, river cruise and visit to the Yorvik Centre to look forward to. This evening, we’ll be off down the coast to Bridlington for a few games of ten pin bowling. Another fun day in store!

Thank you Primary 2, 3/2, 4 and all our parents and friends for your recent comments. We’ve loved reading them and they’ve really helped keep homesickness at bay (with a little help too from the lorne sausage we had for breakfast!… Did the hotel import it all the way from Scotland just for St Bart’s??!!).

We’ve taken advantage of another beautiful, sunny evening and headed into central Scarborough. Dylan H, Caitlyn, Rhys and Ellie used up £2 of their spending money to visit the ‘Tower of Terror’. Thankfully, they lived to tell the tale!

Scarborough Castle, which sits way above the town, was too hard to resist, so we’ve scaled the hill and are now enjoying the sunset over the North Bay from the summit. Bliss! It’s a lovely end to another fantastic day.

Thank you Primary 1 & Primary 6 for your messages. Primary 6 are looking for more adverbs in the blog, so here goes!

We woke up excitedly in the hotel this morning to see the sun shining brilliantly through the windows. The boys and girls ate their breakfast of sausage, bacon and egg hungrily before jumping briskly onto the coach and promptly heading off to the Sealife Centre. It was a fantastic trip where we had the chance to see giant turtles floating calmly in the pools, seals relaxing lazily in the sun, seahorses swimming daintily between the rocks and St Bart’s pupils gleefully exploring the treasures of the gift shop! Hope that’s enough adverbs, Primary 6!

We’re back on the bus now and off to Eden Camp World War II museum… it’s going to be a great afternoon! Hope the sun’s shining in Coatbridge!

Greetings from sunny Scarborough!

First of all, thank you to everyone who has left us a message… we’re really enjoying hearing from you!

We had a great first day yesterday. Our first port of call was Gretna where we enjoyed a leisurely lunch and a chill-out in the park. We were also entertained by a piper while he waited for the next wedding to arrive!

We then headed across the border and down to Beamish. This outdoor museum was like stepping back in time to the Victorian era. The children had the opportunity to explore the various authentic shops and they also got to ride on a tram and a 150 year old steam engine.

It was then time to head to Scarborough, our final destination and base for the rest of the week. We are staying in a fantastic hotel which we have all to ourselves. The owners are treating us like royalty… we even had a cooked breakfast this morning!

Back in St Bartholomew’s, this is the last week we are collecting items for ‘Mary’s Meals’. We are looking for donations of shorts, t-shirts, summer skirts, sandals and flip-flops over the next few days. These do not need to be brand new but should be in good condition.

Mrs O’Neill received a very generous donation yesterday from Andrew (P6), Rachael (P4) and Stella (P2) who gifted a substantial amount of money from their holiday savings towards ‘Mary’s Meals’. Rachael also donated some of her First Communion money. Andrew decided to organise this along with his sisters after watching the film ‘Child 31’. Thank you, all three of you, for your kindness and generosity. Your money will make a huge difference to the lives of children your age in some of the poorest parts of the world.

Mrs Bolland told me on the phone last night that everyone behaved and work very well yesterday. I’m missing you all! Have a good day, everyone.

We’ve arrived safe and sound in a VERY beautiful Scarborough. It’s been a fantastic day but we’re definitely all ready for our dinner. Dining room, here we come!!!!!
