Pupils are allocated places in Glencryan Secondary through North Lanarkshire Council’s Transition Pathway Review. Primary Schools make an application to the Transition Pathway Review in Primary 6 (October). If a pupil is allocated a place at Glencryan School, families will be notified by late January/ early February of Primary 6. Our Depute Head Teacher will then attend transition meetings with families and Primary Schools, hosted by the Primary School. At this meeting, families are invited to make an appointment to visit Glencryan School, if they have not already visited.
Around January or February of Primary 7, our Transition Lead Teacher visits Primary Schools to observe pupils with their Primary 7 class, and to meet with their teachers.
In March, parents are invited into school to join us for café and for a Transition Information Session.
In late April and early May, pupils are invited into school for 4 afternoon visits and finally, in June, pupils are invited into school for 2 full day visits before joining us in August.
An Enhanced Transition programme is available for pupils who require it.
