Lorna Kane – Community, Learning Development Worker – Schools
Lorna is employed through the school Pupil Equity Fund budget and currently works every Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday (term-time)
Lorna offers Parents and Carers the opportunity to come together to support children with their learning, with a particular focus on Nurture, Literacy and Numeracy and Health and Wellbeing. She offers sessions to assist in literacy and numeracy and also programmes such as, Big Chef Little Chef, Relaxed Kids, LIAM (lets introduce anxiety management) Digital Inclusion, Outdoor Learning and Arts and Crafts.
Free Parent/ Carer groups are also offered throughout the year – Solihull Understanding Your Child’s Behaviour, Seasons for Growth, Sleep Scotland and Walking / fitness are a few of the options available to all adults within the school community.
In addition to this, Lorna can also help if families are struggling financially (i.e – foodbank referrals), or if parent/carers need signposted to other agencies for particular support. Some individual sessions and home visits may on occasion be offered, if required.
