Glencairn Primary School Granted Elite Gold Sports Award
Schools Sports Award – Gold Award
In February 2024, Glencairn Primary School was awarded our Gold School Sports Award from Sport Scotland. The award is recognition for the hard work and commitment to creating sporting opportunities for the pupils, and staff, at our school.
Our school sports committee, led by Mr Galloway and supported by our active schools coordinator Regan Reid, organise a wide range of sporting opportunities. Some examples of good practice within our school include:
- A wide range of extra curricular clubs throughout the year
- Close liaison with active schools coordinator
- An active school sports committee
- Attendance at all local sports festivals
- Links to local clubs and volunteers to deliver sport and physical activity
- Opportunities for pupils to take on leadership roles
- Close links to Dalziel High School, with sports leaders leading learning
The above are just some of the examples of what has gone towards Glencairn being acknowledged as a gold school sport school. We will continue to seek new opportunities to provide even more for our pupils at Glencairn.
