Keeping safe in the sun…

This week the weather has been very hot and sunny and we really do hope it continues. Can we remind parents/carers to apply sun cream to their child before coming to nursery.  We also have a supply in both the Annexe and Fife Drive if you forget.

Look at what we have been learning…

The children in the Annexe have been learning more about how things grow.  They have been planting seeds, watering them and now we will wait to see how tall they grow.  There has been lots of discussions about what they need to help them grow as well as what the different parts of the plants are called.  The children have also been taking care of  the babies in the home corner giving them their bottles of milk,  feeding them baby food as well as changing their nappies.  We have been having lots of conversations about what a baby needs to grow and how they help their parents at home to look after their brothers or sisters. Children have also been exploring patterns by printing with a variety of fruits, vegetables and flowers, looking at the different shapes and patterns they create. We have been enjoying lots of outdoor learning, digging and creating mud pies and snacks in our outdoor mud kitchen.  Children have also been learning about how to keep themselves safe in the sun. Our story tree has provided a quiet space for children to explore a variety of fairy tales and books on planting and growing.

The Children have been helping to make their environment more attractive and a nice place to be by litter picking and decorating Tyre’s with Alison our Janitor to use as planters.

Outdoors the children have begun bug hunting and looking after the flowers.

Lorraine’s Three Read group have been reading Oliver’s Milkshake and had a go at making their own fruit flavored Milkshakes.

Well done to all the Big Chef Little Chef participants who took part and completed the course. We hope you put your new aprons to use and cook up something nice in your own homes.

Spring time Celebrations

The children have been along to Parksprings to visit and join in on more art and craft activities with the residents.

At the party, everyone made a great effort and the Easter Bonnets were fantastic. The children designed their own eggs and went on an egg hunt. Party snack was delicious, the games and dancing were fun. The Easter bunny then hopped along to see us all with a little treat. What a busy but great day.

A big Congratulations to our Spring Hamper winner, morning mum Claire Pow.

Our recipe’s are displayed in the cloak room please feel free to take one home.

A big thank you to Elaine who ran this programme and thanks to all the grown ups who came along to take part.
