Autumn and the changes it brings

Within the outdoor learning environment children have been listening to the story of Superworm by Julia Donaldson. They have been exploring props within the story to support them in recreating and retelling elements of the story.Image result for superworm book

In the art area the children have been learning and discussing  Autumn, creating  autumnal pictures, creating a home made out of leaves  for the hedgehog to keep warm.  They have also been exploring their local community visiting the local woodland to look at and collect leaves and accorns.

Within the literacy area children have been making their own books and using them to recreate and retell their favourite stories.  The children have also been using graphs to represent their findings of who likes to eat porridge just like the Three Bears in Goldilocks and the Three Bears story.Image result for goldilocks and the three bears book

In the home corner of the nursery the children have also been roleplaying the story of Goldilocks and the Three Bears as well as creating a fairy land within the small world area.

There has been lots of discussions among the children as they play a variety of table top games in the maths areas.  Children having been using the smartboard to explore a variety of familiar and new stories.
