S2 History
Students who select History in S2 will embark on a Broad General Education course for the next two years.
The courses in S2 are as follows:
Voices of Freedom: Part One
An examination of the origins of the Atlantic Slave trade, exploring the Triangular Trade Route, the Middle Passage, Life on a Plantation and the role of Scotland in the slavery movement
Voices of Freedom: Part Two
Following completion of unit one, students will evaluate the changes that have taken place 200 years later in 20th century America with emphasis on a range of topics including the Little Rock Nine, Martin Luther King and the Ku Klux Klan
The Cold War
Students will be looking at the origins of the Cold War between the USA and the USSR and examining a range of topics including the Berlin Wall, the Cuban Missile Crisis and the Vietnam War
