Higher English
Welcome to the CNHS Higher English Website.
In Higher English, you will, you will study 1-2 main texts and write critical essays on these.
You will also study a Scottish Set Text (set by SQA) which you will have to answer questions on.
RUAE skills will be a main component of the course: reading two non-fiction articles and answering questions on these.
Additionally throughout the year you will be asked to write a folio of work- one discursive essay and one creative essay*. These will be redrafted and submitted to the SQA. This counts for 30% of your overall mark.
*This is currently only one essay of your choice, as amended by SQA post-Covid.
Your exam will be: one close reading (RUAE), one set text and one critical essay.
Supported Study is held throughout the year, both in class and on Teams.
