Our First Fun Thursday

We had an absolute ball at our first fun Thursday. We chose to do a variety of challenges for the afternoon. As you can see from these photos we had a blast! We had 5 challenges in total; The Starburst Challenge, The Loomband Challenge, The Orio Challenge, The Fruity Challenge and the Chopstick Challenge. At the end of the day we measured the Loombands of the 5 groups. It measured a total of 4metres.

Can you tell me which was your favourite challenge and why?

What would you like to do for our next Fun Thursday?

Battle Shields

We looked at various types of shields used during the Wars of Independence in Scotland. We designed our own shields and then painted them. We had to use our colour mixing knowledge as we didn’t have all the colours we required. Her are some photods of us at work creating our shields. Keep posted to see photos of our finished shields.

Battles of Independence Key Figures

We have been looking at some of the key figures in Scottish history during the Battles of Independence. On Tuesday afternoon we worked in teams to create paintings of Robert the Bruce, John Balliol, William Wallace and King Edward II. As you can see from the excellent results our teamwork was amazing to create these wonderful masterpieces.

Deal or No Deal

We have been enjoying playing ‘Deal or No Deal’ to help us learn about chance and a little about place value. So far we have been very brave and won £75,000 and £50,000 although someone took the banker’s offer of £4000 and could have won £100, 000. It’s a fabulous game!

Can an you tell me anything you have learned about chance? You may want to think about dice or coins to explain it!image image image image image image

Chapelhall Allotments

What a fantastic day we had today. We had our usual swim and gym and got back to school just in time for lunch then we had a trip to the allotment. Mrs Raeburn really has made a huge difference to our allotment patches. We were lucky enough to see everything that was growing and harvest a few things too. Mr McCartney was also at the allotment and showed us his patch and we watched him dig up his potatoes. Some of us were lucky enough to get wee baby potatoes from his patch. We learned lots of interesting facts both from Mrs Raeburn and Mr McCartney. Mrs Raebeburn had set a quiz for us to make sure we were listening. It really was a fantastic day! Thank you Mrs Raeburn and Mr McCartney.

Can you tell me 3 things that you learned on your visit to the allotment?
