Solar System Suggestions

As you know we are about to begin our work on The Solar System. This is a very exciting topic and my favourite one of all. Can you write down some activities that you would like to complete in class. As well as an activity, can you tell me the aim of your lesson too. Let’s come up with some fab ideas Primary 5! I’m really looking forward to reading your ideas.

Maths Homework – Spheres

Now that we have completed addition and subtraction  can you think of a few questions to come up with the number below? I am expecting a variety of questions to give the answer.

You may want to try a ‘Countdown’ type question or some word problems, these types of questions will be worth extra dojos and house points. Get those thinking caps on!

And the answer is… 68

Building Bridges

To finish off our Scottish topic we spent the afternoon building bridges (from the battles of independence) We had a variety of materials to choose from and a set criteria we had to meet. Some of the materials were much trickier than others to build with. As you can see from our pictures we had an absolute ball and created some fantastic bridges. I see engineering as a future career for many of these children!

If At First You Don’t Succeed…

We designed a spider’s web using black crayon then mixed colours to create a candle light background.

Can you tell me how this art activity is related to our topic?

Can you give me some examples of how we could use the phrase we learned about this in our own lives?

Fun Thursday

We had a super day today, first we went to swim and gym and then we had our Fun Thursday for working so well as a class.

We decided we would like to decorate cakes and cookies and have our own choice of activities on the computer. As you can see we really did have a fantastic afternoon. Hopefully the cakes will taste as nice as they looked!

Remember, if you want to do something in particular next month put your suggestions here! Only ideas posted here can be voted on!

Tasty Burgers

I hope you all enjoyed your burgers Primary 5! I thought they were delicious.

On Monday, as part of the curriculum, we made homemade healthy burgers. We discussed lots of health and safety issues relating to cooking on Friday afternoon to allow us to get started first thing Monday morning. We prepared the burgers from scratch and used both the claw and bridge technique for slicing and chopping our ingredients. As you can see from the photos it really was a fun task.

Please let me know what you thought of this activity and if the burger was tasty.

Can you tell me 3 health and safety issues we need to be aware of when cooking or preparing to cook?

Remember full sentences and correct spelling please!
