Bog Garden

What a fantastic afternoon we had in Honeywell Habitats today. We tidied up the bottle greenhouse, picked up litter, hung energy balls to feed the birds and planted our bog plants. We even had time for a wee sing along in the wigloo! You should all be proud of yourselves, I certainly am!

Glasgow Science Centre

What a fabulous day we had at Glasgow Science Centre. We had an extremely busy schedule. We had some free time, we visited the Lab and took part in a car making competition and had an awesome time in the Planetarium. Have a look at our photos and you’ll see how much fun we had. There is an elderly man in our gallery, could anyone guess who he may be? He tells me he looks just like his Papa.

Bog Plants

At long last we have been able to source bog plants. The kind men at Dobbies helped Mrs Horner choose the correct plants to encourage wildlife to our bog. They even helped me load all the plants into her car. We’re going to be busy planting all the wonderful plants. Keep an eye on the blog to see our progress.

Honeywell Habitats

We haven’t been up to Honeywell Habitats for a few weeks now. The weather hasn’t been suitable and we’re still waiting on the plants coming from the garden centre. We have however made more improvements and got really muddy. Our last visit was extremely difficult for all of us. Here are some snapshots of our last visit. Can you please write your thoughts about our future plans for the bog?

Scotland

We have just about finished our topic about Scotland, we have looked at islands and cities and discussed the main differences. We planned a road route to the isle of Lewis and found many different ways to get there. We completed lots of research and some interesting Powerpoints Our art work included sketching  and making clay island wildlife . Can you tell me what you enjoyed most about this topic and something you might liked to have changed? Here are a few snapshots of our art work.

Thank you

The Bog Blog!

Well Primary 5 we really have made a huge difference to Honeywell Habitats after the winter storms! We have lifted most of the litter, replenished some of the bark and put drainage and 24 HUGE bags of soil in the bog garden! It’s been a tremendous task so far. The children got really muddy and a few wellies were stuck in the mud, but we are having a ball. We are well on our way to achieving our John Muir Award.
I would also like to thank you all for your fabulous research and presentations on John Muir, I learned lots of interesting information on Friday and I think Mrs Gallagher was really impressed with our amazing facts, so well done to all of you! I’m so proud of your hard work!

Here is a selection of photos we have taken so far. Keep posted for more photos as we make further progress.

Scottish Dancing

We celebrated the last day of school this year by re-visiting some of the Scottish dances we learned earlier in the term. Well done to Leah, Jack and Emma who won prizes for their efforts. Well done!
