Secret Student Treat

AsĀ  Primary 5 has worked extremely well over the past few weeks we managed to get our Secret Student treat. Our aim was to get 17 pupils on the Secret Student board and we did it! As a class, we voted on our reward and we decided on baking cakes and science experiments. Today we set about completing these tasks and we had great fun. Have a look at the photos to see what you think! Can anyone tell me what they learned whilst making the lava lamps? It may be worth a few House Points!

Why not try adding more salt or an effervescent tablet to your lamp at home? What do you think will happen?

Scottish SPCA

We had a visit from the Scottish SPCA to talk to us about wildlife in the environment. We had a fantastic time and learned lots of facts and how to deal with wildlife in danger.

Maths- October

In the month of October we have been looking at place value up to 10,000, 2D and 3D shape as well as addition and subtraction. As well as using our text books we have played some ICT games and card games. On Pirate Day we even did a Treasure Hunt covering many of the maths concepts we have been learning this term.

Swim and Gym

The children had a fabulous time on Tuesday at the Time Capsule. They had the opportunity to have an hour in the swimming pool and an hour learning basketball skills. It was a really enjoyable experience for all the children. Well done everyone!
From Tuesday 9th September the children should come to school wearing their gym clothes ( dark tracksuit bottoms and white t shirt or polo shirt). It is also important that the children remove all jewellery before coming to school and wear longer hair in a pony tail or tied back from face.

Home Projects

Primary 5 children were give a selection of challenges to complete over several weeks at home. The children had to choose activities they preferred from a list. As you can see the children have created some wonderful pieces of art and some very informative fact files and biographies. Well done to all the children (and parents) who, as always, did themselves proud!
Here are some of the fabulous masterpieces! Please keep posted for the remaining projects

Fruity Solar System

We made the Solar System using a variety of fruits. We had to think about what we had learned about the size of the planets and use the fruit best suited to that planet in comparison with the others. As a treat, we then made some juicy fruit kebabs!
