We are the children in P4/3. We have settled in well to our new class with Miss Bryce and we are working hard to be the best we can be in all areas of school life. There are 22 of us and, even though some of us have come from different classes, we are getting to know one another and we are making new friends. Follow our blog this session to find out what we are doing in and around school. Important updates will be found on here, as well as lots of pictures of our activities.
Science – Melting Ice
Our classroom
We have been working hard on our displays for our new topic – Water. We have been learning all about why we use water & how water can be used for energy. We have looked at the water cycle and we have been learning about Claude Monet. We enjoyed painting our Waterlily pictures and making 3D waterlilies.
Water presentation
We had a visit from Jim Raeburn, Griff’s cousin and a former Chapelhall Primary pupil. He works for Raeburn Drilling and was here to help us with our water topic. He told us about his job and how he drills for water. He explained to us how the water is taken from far under the ground and is prepared for us to use. We also received some gifts from him including rulers which we will use in our class. It was very interesting listening to Jim explaining how he worked hard at school so that he could go on to train to do the job he does now.
Cooking – tropical smoothies
We made tropical smoothies as part of our cooking week. We learned how to prepare for our cooking lesson by washing our hands properly and removing the fruit skins. Â We learned how to hold a knife properly and how to cut the fruit into chunks. We then added yoghurt and fruit juice and blended it all together. We are going to write a set of instructions for our writing lesson so we can make them at home. Our smoothies were delicious!
