Marvellous Magic Den!

The children have had a fab time this morning, watching the Magic Den show. This is a great treat for our joint campus, as we celebrate our 10 year anniversary. We all have commemorative pens – and it’s a dress down day as well. We have had a lovely day.  Thank you to everyone for making our day fun. Happy September weekend!

Allotment Visit.

P4/3 are visiting the allotment on Monday 12th September at 12.45pm. Please make sure all children have a jacket and comfortable footwear. We hope to be picking some of what we’ve grown since before summer. We are looking forward to our trIp. Photos to follow…….

Parlez – vous francais?

P4/3 have had 5 sessions of French with Meriem. It’s been fun and the children love speaking another language.  This has been part of the French immersion programme for infants/juniors in primary school.  The children made puppets and have given them a French name. They are now just as likely to say “bonjour” and “au revoir” as they are to say “hello” and “goodbye”

Treat Time.

We have 30 minutes of Treat Time on Friday afternoons. The children decide on 4 activities which last for 4 weeks and they rotate weekly in order to experience all activities before we change them for another 4 activities. Our first set of activities are Maths games, car mat, own toy and DVD with treat.

Budding artists!

The artist allocated to P4/3 this session is the French impressionist painter, Claude Monet. We have already been looking at some of his work and finding out about him. We will be trying to emulate his style on a few occasions this year. Here we are, looking at Monet’s garden and, using paints, we are finger painting our way round his garden. From a distance, our “impressionist style” paintings are very effective.

Planning

This is the P4/3 shared planning sheet which shows the areas of the curriculum to be covered this term. A copy of this is located on the display area outside our bay. A copy of this plan will also be available for you on the school’s Open Day. image

Things to note………..

Gym days are Monday and Tuesday.  Please make sure your child has the correct kit with them. It would help if a gym bag was left on their coat peg in school. Gym kit consists of shorts, t-shirt or school polo shirt, socks and gym shoes/trainers. Jogging trousers are good for days when the weather is good and we can get outside so it would help if there was a pair in the gym bag too.

If it’s possible, girls should not wear tights on gym days and it’s easier to get changed if there are no school shirts to be buttoned or ties to be tied! This tends to take a long time and frustrates the children.  A polo shirt would be fine and is still school uniform. A filled water bottle should be brought  to school every day but especially on gym days. Bottles can be re-filled throughout the day in school.
