It’s time for a photo gallery of some of the things we have been up to this session. The children have enjoyed all the challenges of the year and have met them head on. Well done P3/4!

Happy New Year

We are back into a new term and are already working really hard. Our water topic, “The Little Mermaid”, is going well and the children have been learning lots of new things. They can explain the process of the water cycle and have taken part in a science experiment on evaporation. In maths, they are learning their tables, using Smartboard interactive activities, our class laptop and iPad mini to consolidate this concept. In literacy, the children have been writing instructions. Last week, they wrote fantastic instructions for building a snowman. They used plasticene to practise on. Will they get to make the real thing? The weather has been really cold this week so the children are hopeful that the snowy weather might arrive and they can put their instructions to the test!

Flat Stanley is ready for his travels!

Flat Stanley is our class novel study this term. The story is about a boy who is flattened to half an inch thick when a bulletin board falls on him. He is now able to travel around the world cheaply by being sealed in an envelope and posted air mail. Our Scottish Stanley, Stanley McLambchop, is getting ready for adventures around the world. He is heading off to far flung places: Canada, Dubai Mexico, Australia, USA (many states – including a trip to Sun Recording Studios in Tennessee where Elvis Presley recorded), South Africa, New Zealand, Poland, India, Turkey and London. The children are excited and look forward to hearing about Stanley’s foreign adventures. Keep watching the blog for updates……….

Star Of The Week.

Already. Lucy and Brandon have been “Star Of The Week” in class. This title comes with special privileges. A special cushion is given for our star to sit on – they are very comfy all week! Our class wise owl, Solomon, sits at the table beside them and they get to wear a medal for the week. Our star also gets to choose a very special prize from the prize box and get a wristband with “Star Of The Week” on it. WOW!!! It is a most sought after award every Friday!

Welcome from Primary 3/4 and Miss Bryce!

We have made a great start to the school year and already feel like a family in our P3/4 bay.

We are going to be very busy this session with lots of great topics to learn about. We will find out about “Knights and Castles”, make puppets in our technology topic called  “Pop Up Pals”, get outside and up close and personal to little creatures with our topic on “Pondlife” (through the traditional tale “The Princess and the Frog”), we will be more eco-friendly when we study “Water Conservation and Pollution” and will get fired up for summer by looking at Commonwealth countries and the upcoming “Commonwealth Games” in Glasgow 2014.

We will add photos of terrific things that we are doing and share our class and school successes with you throughout the school year. Please feel free to add comments to our blog when you can.
