Welcome!

Welcome to p.2/1!

We have 20 p.2 children and 4 fabulous p.1 children. We also have a class mascot Roo, who has already spent some weekends with children from the class. Everyone will have a turn of Roo and remember to fill in a page or two of his diary.

P.E

We have two slots of P.E on a Tuesday. (Just the way the timetable worked out!) The children will require indoor shoes/P.E kit and appropriate outdoor clothing. These items can be kept in school in a gym bag.

Homework

Primary 1

Reading with adult support and working on word wall words each night is recommended. Reading books and word wall words should be in their bags at all times.

Monday – Phonic workbook – Linking to the sound learned in school.

Tuesday – Tricky word workbook

Wednesday – Number workbook

Thursday – Phonic workbook

All homework should be handed in the next day as we use the workbooks more than once through the week.

Primary 2

Reading with adult support and working on word wall words (If applicable) each night is recommended. Reading books and word wall words should be in their bags at all times.

Monday – Phoneme maker- cut up the letters, make the words and write them once in their jotter.

Tuesday – Phonics- write the words from previous night three times in the jotter. (This may be written in a fun way with different colours, or in a pyramid fashion, but the traditional list is also fine.)

Wednesday – Number work – linking to maths concepts taught in class.

Thursday – Tricky words- each word should be written three times with one sentence from a chosen word. All homework should be handed in the next day.

We will be adding more to this blog throughout the year, so keep visiting and don’t forget to comment!

Weather watching and bird feeding!

We have been learning about the different types of weather in each season.

We have used a measuring jug to see if we can measure some rainfall.

Then we used our own makeshift wind vane to investigate which direction the wind was blowing.

Then we thought about the birds during winter and made some bird feeders to help them out.

You could try it at home too… We used our hands to bind melted lard, cheese, peanuts, raisins and bird seed together. The birds LOVE it!

We even discovered a rainbow! We hope to find some gold at the end of it…
