Primary 2 Science Investigation

P2 children from Miss Bryce and Mrs Yeneka’s class were investigating the effects of too much sugar on teeth. Fortunately, Mrs Yeneka’s friend is a vet who looks after sharks and she managed to bring some shark’s teeth to school. We used milk, orange juice, coca cola and energy drink to put the teeth in (the children’s suggestions) and we will leave them over the holiday weekend. We have made predictions and are looking forward to examining the results on Tuesday. Watch this space…………….

Patterns everywhere!

In art and design, we are creating and designing using a variety of different patterns and using lots of art techniques and resources to achieve this. We have used wax resist, repeating pattern, line pattern and creating pictures using a pattern of dots. This technique is called POINTILLISM and was founded by the French artist, Georges Seurat in the 1800s. Here are some children trying this technique for the first time using felt pen. You may recognise the picture………the owl and the pussycat!

Outdoors and active!

We have already been on the AstroTurf for gym. We had a variety of activities to take part in. We played running games, used bats and balls to improve skills and we even got the chance to play football for a short time! However, Miss Bryce and Mrs Yeneka really put us through our paces during the warm up. Here we are, enjoying our first outdoor PE session.

Hello, everyone! We are Primary 2b and we are working in a lovely bay with Miss Bryce. We came from a variety of classes last year so we have the chance to make new friends this session. We hope to keep you up to date with the things we are doing in school on our blog page.

THINGS TO NOTE:

Gym days – Tuesday and Thursday (full gym kit required) Please ensure your child has a bottle of water with them every day (but especially gym days). They should bring it filled and these can be re-filled throughout the school day.

All school uniform looks the same. Please make sure all clothing is marked with your child’s name and class. It’s very difficult to keep track of over 300 children’s various pieces of clothing. This would be a great help. Thank you.

Peas, Potatoes and Sunflowers

Primary 2/1 enjoyed their slot at at the school allotment today. Mrs. Raeburn and her little helper Sion were there to meet us. There were a few jobs needing done, so we split into three groups. Peas, potatoes and sunflowers all needed to be sewn. We all had fun looking around the different plots and finding out about the various plants and vegetables. Mrs. Raeburn let us smell some of the herbs she had planted last week. Mr. McCartney also came around to ask some of the children to plant beetroot. We saw the strawberries that Ellie had planted with her Papa’s help. Thanks to all of our helpers including Mrs. Kumar, who enjoyed planting the sunflowers.
