Painting the words on paper - great fun (oh and I can assess the children to see if they have grasped the phoneme successfully!)

When the children in P2 learn a new phoneme, we find as many ways as we can of using fun activities to reinforce the sound. Our phoneme this week was “ew” – some of our activities included:- making the words (including our 4 tricky words too) with matchsticks and Miss Bryce’s reward box gems, painting “ew” words with glitter paint and playing “ew” games on the Smartboard, laptop and iPad using the spellingcity.com website. As you can see by the photos, the children had fun learning.
