Here are the brave people trying foods from Mrs O’Neill. They did very well!

Miss Muir’s S2 French class
S2 have been learning a lot about Paris, and have produced some amazing posters, each on a different aspect of Paris. Mr Cairns came to class yesterday to chat with everyone about what they’d learned, and to give out some cream eggs to the people he thought had worked the hardest on their posters. Well done everyone!
S5/6 German class visit to the Bavarian Brauhaus 2024
AS a reward for the year’s hard work, the S5/6 German class had a little trip for lunch in Glasgow’s German restaurant, the Baravian Brauhaus. In spite of the weather, everyone enjoyed their lunch, as you can see from the photos.
Mathématiques sans Frontières
Yesterday the Higher and N5 maths classes took part in the international maths/languages competition, Mathématiques sans Frontières. The competition involves working in groups to solve maths problems, one of which has to be answered in either French, German, Spanish or Italian. Here they are, having fun and working on some (very!) complicated maths at the same time.
Click here to see a copy of the questions they worked on. Well done to all!

S2 star ✨
One of our fabulous S2s (and there are a lot!) has made this lovely and informative booklet on France in her free time. We’re all so impressed! Well done Lily.
S3 posters on ‘Soulman’ song
A few weeks ago Miss Muir’s S3 learned how to use a bilingual dictionary by looking up words for a song ‘Soulman’, by Ben l’Oncle Soul. Here’s a link to the YouTube video – it’s very good, and full of negatives (the grammar point we were covering at the time). https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=69ptYXvUo7M
And here are some of the posters. We have so many great artists!
European Day of Languages 2023
This year – for once – EDL was on a school day; Tuesday 26/9/23. So we were in step with the whole of Europe. Our BGE pupils were all busy doing EDL activities – S1 had a treasure hunt, S2 had a quiz and S3 were making posters of unusual idioms in foreign languages. We also had a food tasting of various items from European countries at lunchtime, and many pupils came and tried, among other things, camembert cheese , German sunflower bread, tortilla, pesto pasta and much else.
Mrs O’Neill held her, now famous, Bush Tucker Challenge, where brave volunteers were blindfolded and tried tastes of 5, rather more unusual, foods, like sauerkraut and olives, with a prize for not spitting any out. Lots of adventurous palates out there! Well done to everyone who took part; more photos to follow.
