We provided a taste of Europe – different foods from across various countries – although no frogs’ legs, or snails, as they’re too expensive! Here are some photos of the lunchtime event, with hopefully some pictures of Mrs O’Neill’s Bush Tucker Trial to come.

18 pupils completed their practice expedition, organised by Ms Hamilton, for the Bronze Duke of Edinburgh award on Friday and Saturday which involved walking almost 25km over the two days, and camping overnight at Auchengillan Outdoor Centre. They did fantastically well and should be very proud of themselves. I’ve attached some photos of the weekend, please congratulate the pupils on their achievement if you see them! Thanks to Mr Parker for coming along to help supervise!
So, on Thursday 13th March some S4/5/6 pupils took part in this annual international maths/languages competition. The pupils enjoyed working on some really difficult mathematical problems, one of which had to be answered in words in a foreign language. As always, some international snacks were available to help thinking. The pupils really stepped up and worked hard for two periods, and it was fantastic to see them working as groups and really engaging with the tasks. Each participant also got a nice maths set, courtesy of Mrs Rodgers in the English department, who clearly has some good contacts. We’ll see if we win the competition this year! Link to the test above, if it works, and you want to see what they were doing.

So, as a reward for hard work through the year, and after most of the Talking Performances had taken place, the S5/6 German class went to Glasgow for a German lunch at the Bavaria Brauhaus. It was all very enjoyable!

Well, as usual, it’s been all go in the Modern Languages Department this session. Yesterday all of S1 got to take part in a ‘Pokémon hunt’ in the social area. Here are some photos.
S2 have been learning a lot about Paris, and have produced some amazing posters, each on a different aspect of Paris. Mr Cairns came to class yesterday to chat with everyone about what they’d learned, and to give out some cream eggs to the people he thought had worked the hardest on their posters. Well done everyone!

AS a reward for the year’s hard work, the S5/6 German class had a little trip for lunch in Glasgow’s German restaurant, the Baravian Brauhaus. In spite of the weather, everyone enjoyed their lunch, as you can see from the photos.
