We have had lots of fun learning about autumn during play. We have painted autumn trees, played in our own forest area and even planted some autumn vegetables.

Caveman Play
The children are having lots of fun exploring the life of a caveman through play activities and are now sharing with others what they have learned.
Caveman Play
The children have moved onto our new caveman topic and we’re very cited this week to start our new play activities. The children made their own tools, built caves out of sand and other construction materials and took part in some research. We will continue these play activities over the next few weeks and will keep you updated with our learning.
New Topic
The children put their heads together to help plan our new topic on Cavemen which will be starting over the next few weeks. The children shared what they already knew and then discussed what they would like to learn. The children then presented their group suggestions to the rest of the class. There was some very interesting suggestions and hopefully we will be able to cover them in the time available.
Calderglen Country Park
The children are all looking forward to our trip to Calderglen country park next week, where we will be learning all about signs of autumn, animals in autumn and how to take care of nature in our enviroment.
Katie Morag Play
We have been having lots of fun learning about Katie Morag in class and during play we are now using our knowledge to create models, painting, poster and even sewing Tiresome Ted back together. Here are some pictures of the children during play.
Katie Morag
The children were very excited today to start their new Katie Morag themed play activities. We had lots of fun learning how to sew like Katie Morag, work in our own Post Office and make a model of Struay Island and many more interesting activities.
Katie Morag Letter
Today the children from Primary 2/1 had a surprise delivery. A parcel and letter arrived and the children couldn’t wait to open it and see what was inside. Inside the children found Katie Morag’s Tiresome Ted sent from Katie Morag’s Mum for the children to look after for little while. The children also wrote to Katie Morag’s mum to thank her and tell her how they would look after the teddy.

The Right to Play
During out topic time the children have been asked to explore one of the Rights of the Child articles and primary 2/1 are exploring article 31 the right to play. Here is some pictures of the children exploring a variety of play activities including traditional board games and new technology.
