Fractions Fun

Today we were learning about fractions. Some of us were ordering halves on a numberline and some of us were learning about tenths. We all worked in teams to make some great fractions mobiles. Mr McAvoy even came in and he said we were a great class.

We worked together
We put the fractions in the correct order
We dispayed our work so others can learn about fractions too.

More Directions work

Today we were learning more about directions. We all made our own compass points on the computer then we made grids to map out routes. We all wrote our own instructions for the routes. Patrick also showed us all how to make a happy face for our ‘I can ‘ statements.
We all love doing our maths work in the ICT suite.

Lauren made this great compass showing the compass points
Melissa made this grid then wrote instructions for a route.

All about Pope Francis

This week in RE we are learning about the leader of the Catholic church, the Pope. We found out that the Pope is God’s representative on Earth and Jesus chose the first pope, Simon Peter. Jesus said Peter,” You are the rock on which I will build my church”.
In our research, we have found out some facts about our current pope, Pope Francis.
Pope Francis is the current Pope of the Roman Catholic Church. Jorge Mario Bergoglio was born in 1936 and he comes from Argentina. In March 2013 he was elected Pope and chose the name Francis in honour of Saint Francis of Assissi. Pope Francis is the 266th pope but the first Francis. He is also the first pope to come from the Americas, and the first pope to come from the Southern Hemisphere.

Ballskills in PE

On Friday , we finished our PE block on improving our ballskills. We have practiced throwing, catching and running whilst we bounced a ball. We used these skills in a game of mini basketball. Nicole was the star player with her fabulous defensive moves.

Recycled Material Models

As a homework project, we collected various items which we used to make these fabulous models. If you look carefully you might spot a model of Central park, our school, a castle, a wind turbine, lots of robots and a whole host of interesting models. The models look great and we think they show everyone how to reuse junk to make something else.

Sponsored Walk

Today we had a great time on our sponsored walk. We enjoyed the lovely walk to Drumpellier Park in the warm sunshine. We saw swans and their cynets. There were lots of interesting dogs out for a walk too and we even met a man and woman who had their Harris hawk with them for some flight training. We hope that we make lots of money from the sponsored walk so that we can plan some interesting class trips this session.

We set out on the walk
Soon we reached the Lochs
We enjoyed looking at the wildlife
We had fun with our friends
This police officer helped us to cross the road safely on our way back to school

World Day of Peace

Today our school marked the World Day of Peace. In all our classes, we said prayers for peace in the world then each peron made a link with their name and message on it. We all stapled them together until it was longer than the school stage. The chain of peace is going to hang outside the school oratory. We also enjoyed buyiong the fruit jellies the Prayer Group made. They are going to use the money they raised to buy baby items for the Innocents Society.

We all joined our prayer links together
This chain is so long!
Wow! What a chain !

Rebecca’s Story

We all wrote about our visit to the carehome. We wanted to let Mr Campbell see one of our stories as yesterday was his last

day in our class. Rebecca typed out her story:

Care home visit   20.9.13

Yesterday morning, primary 4/3 went to Blair house Care home to visit some elderly people. On our way there it was rainy but we did not mind. When we got to the care home Karen let us put our jackets in a spare room. The room was very nice it had a nice wardrobe and it also had a lovely mirror. The care home had a very nice hall way it was also very big. At last we went into the day room to meet the elderly people I gave someone called Winnie one of our hanging baskets. Some people shook some people hands and said their name. We sang two songs whil we were  wating for a surprise. Liam carried a birthday cake in to someone called Winnie. She was 86 and we all sang happy birthday. Then we needed to leave and Karen gave us juice and sweeties. I felt happy and I want to go back because they were sweet.
