Right to an Identity!

Through our Rights Respecting, we have been learning about Article 8, our right to an identity. We discussed what makes up our identity and why our names are important. We loved created our own graffiti style names to display proudly in class, showing we all have the right to a name.

Fair Trade Fortnight

We have been learning all about fair trade. We investigated where chocolate comes from, and how it is made. We could not believe how little some farmers get paid for growing cocoa beans. We enjoyed making some fair trade quizzes and even created our own songs and raps to encourage people to buy fair trade!

Castles!

We had lots of fun making castles out of cardboard! The Biggies helped us with using the tools to cut and bend the cardboard to make our amazing castles. We included different features of castles, like towers, a portcullises and some even had moving drawbridges! Fanatics job done by all and some great teamwork!

Timelines!

Last week, we worked together to use key events from the life of Mary Queen of Scots to create a timeline. This proved to be a lot tricker than we thought. Additionally, we learnt what the term ‘chronological order’ means and had lots of fun completing some challenges in class to help us remember.

Outdoor Learning Day

Last Friday was our 3rd outdoor learning day. As our topic this term is the life of Mary Queen of Scots, we had lots of fun royal themed activities. In the morning we had a trip to the woods and worked together to make our own castles! We even added in our own cannons. After break we had a go at solving some Roman Numeral problems, using natural materials. We even tried some addition and subtraction calculations in Roman Numerals.  Very tricky! After lunch we searched the playground for materials that we could use to make our own crowns. We looked very regal indeed!

Outdoor Learning Day November

Last Friday we had our second outdoor learning day. We started the morning by going on an autumn playground search by exploring our 5 senses. We found lots of interesting leaves, in all shapes, colours and textures. We discussed how our senses would be different if we were ti explore in the spring or summer compared to autumn. We then used what we has found to write some amazing autumn poetry!

After lunch we were very excited to be planting some daffodils. Daffodils get planted in the cooler months, and hopefully will bloom by spring, fingers crossed.
