Westfield Nursery Class is non-denominational and is open to children of all cultures and religions.

Session Start – 8.50am
Session finish – 2.50pm
Curriculum
This year at Westfield Nursery we will continue to work towards the outcomes of the Curriculum for Excellence. The aims of CfE are to develop children who are: Successful Learners, Confident Individuals, Effective Contributors and Responsible Citizens. Children will be given a wealth of experiences and opportunities to develop their skills and knowledge in eight different curricular areas (Health and Wellbeing, Literacy and English, Numeracy and Mathematics, Expressive Art, Sciences, Social Studies, Technologies and Religious and Moral Education). For more information about CfE please refer to the notice board in the cloakroom area or speak to a nursery staff member.
Snack Time
As a Health Promoting Nursery we try to encourage our children to make healthy choices at snack time. The children are offered a variety of snack items including cold meat wraps, pancakes, toast, yoghurt, breadsticks, etc. There is always fresh fruit or vegetables provided for the children from High Five for Fruit. The children are also offered milk or water to drink with their snack. We encourage the children to be as independent as possible at the snack table.
Clothing
Westfield Nursery has a uniform similar to the school. This is a red sweatshirt/cardigan and white polo shirt. Order forms are available from the nursery. It is best if children wear jogger type trousers so that they do not struggle with buttons/belts when they visit the toilet. Children are encouraged to wear aprons when they are taking part in any messy activities but sometimes accidents do happen and clothes get paint on them. So that children are free to enjoy themselves without worrying about their clothes please do not wear ‘best” clothes to nursery.
