Some of P4’s work this week.

Science

This week we learned about different materials.

We used the environment around us to identify and classify objects by their material

e.g. windows – glass, bin – plastic, padlock – metal.

Fireworks

On Thursday we learned about onomatopoeia and the different words that we can use to describe how things sound and feel.

We used this knowledge to help us create a piece of fireworks art. The children had to use straws to move the paint around their paper to create the look of fireworks exploding.

Queen’s Jubilee Garden Party

On Thursday the 24th of May we celebrated the Queen’s Diamond Jubilee by having a garden party.  We were blessed with a glorious sunny afternoon and so we changed into our shorts and t-shirts, put on sun cream and put on our hats (tiaras and crowns).  Primary 5 provided entertainment by singing their Olympic torch parade song.  We enjoyed refreshments of juice, oranges, grapes, melon and kiwi fruit.  The whole school spent time together playing games on the pitch, dancing, having a picnic on the grass and playing croquet.  A lovely time was had by all.

Scottish Day Celebration

On Friday the 3rd of February we held a whole school celebration to showcase the work each class had carried out during Scottish Week.  We invited our families along to share in this event.  It began with The Haggis being piped into the hall by Mr Mike Fitzhenry.  Four fabulous Primary 7 pupils then gave The Address to the Haggis.  Their performance of this set the scene for a great morning of entertainment.  There was a wide variety from each class with poetry, songs and plays.
