Room 5 Monday 27th of April 🌼

Happy Monday boys and girls 💛

Hope you are well 💛 Today Mrs Early will be posting this week’s Chilli Challenge Grids 🌶

Each week we will have a different theme and this week it’s People Who Help Us. Really appropriate just now as so many of our Key Workers are providing essential help for us all right now 👮👩‍🚒👷👩‍🔬👩‍⚕️

Have a chat today if you can about all our key workers and the jobs they do . Is anyone in your family a key worker ? Chat to them about their role just now and if it’s changed in the past month .

I was delighted to see updates of your work last week 😁. It was good to see so many of you trying the spicy grid 🌶 🌶🌶. Get an adult at home to chose the grid right for you .

Take care 💜

Primary 2 Room 3

Monday 27th April

Good Morning Room 3! I hope you all had a great weekend. 😃

This week instead of a one home learning grid, there will be three Chilli Challenge grids to choose from! These grids are all based around the theme of People Who Help Us. 👮‍♀️👨‍⚕️👨‍🚒👩‍🏫

Mrs Early will be posting them here on the blog later on this morning. Try and challenge yourself to try out the medium or spicy activities. 🌶🌶🌶

I really enjoyed hearing from some of you last week. Please continue to post your work on our school Twitter or by emailing myself (see school app) so I can see all the wonderful things you have been getting up to.

From today Royal Bank of Scotland will be introducing MoneySense Monday lessons on their website. Today’s lesson at 11:30am is on coins and notes which is perfect for some money revision. 💷

MoneySense Mondays

I will be continuing to post some work on your Studdyladder and Sumdog accounts so keep an eye out!

Have a lovely day! 💜

Primary 4 Room 6 and 7

Monday 27th April
Good morning everybody,
I hope you have had a lovely weekend and managed to spend some time outdoors in the beautiful weather. Today I have attached a Weekly Chilli Challenge Learning Grid. Have a look over the grid and choose your Chilli level. Remember to email either myself or Miss Hay with any learning you do over the course of this week. As usual there is a daily challenge included in this email and also other ideas for learning.

Daily Challenge – This week would have been Finance Week in school. Why don’t you access the Royal Bank of Scotland’s website and play some games in the Kid’s Zone or watch the Live Lesson on YouTube at 11:30am. https://rbs.mymoneysense.com/home/
BBC Bitesize – BBC Bitesize has a range of Daily Lessons ready for today’s learning. Which one will you choose? Literacy, Maths or IDL? https://www.bbc.co.uk/bitesize/dailylessons Also BBC Scotland iPlayer is showing regular programmes at 10am each morning on a range of subjects https://www.bbc.co.uk/iplayer/guide/bbcscotland If you miss it you can catch up on the same website at any time.

Primary 3 Room 4

Good morning boys and girls,

Hope you enjoyed some of the lovely sunshine over the weekend and you are all well.  Continue to look out for little messages from me on your Study Ladder Accounts- I can now pop into our class and leave a comment for you. Please find extra ideas for links and suggestions for additional physical activity on the Blog.

You should receive details about moving onto Glow Teams in the post this week and we will move onto this next week.  We will then be able to chat online at specific times and you can have online chats/conversations with other children in our class.  I am really looking forward to hearing how you all are!

A note to parents/carers-

The suggested activities are just that suggestions, participation is at your discretion, complete if you can and find it appropriate to do so.  Many of you will have your own work to do at home and it can be difficult to juggle both.  Please remember both you and your child’s mental health is most important during this difficult time.

Some suggestions for this coming week:

Please refer to the grid for daily suggestions for Literacy and Numeracy.  Other curricular areas can be completed if this works for your family.

Click below to open the grid

Home Learning Grid

Literacy

Phonics and Common Words: (Refer to Grid)

  • Phoneme- How many words can you think of with this sound? A little easier than last week!
  • Can you read all the common words?
  • Write Common Words out three time in Rainbow Writing

Reading Activity

Text/Video– Ice Maker, Ice Breaker

Prior Knowledge– How facts do you know about ice? Where would you find ice inside and out? How do you get ice? What happens to ice when the temperature changes?

Vocabulary-After watching the video- see if you can figure out what words I am referring to.  You can either copy and complete the table like we do in school or just state the answers:

Teacher’s Words Text/Video’s words
carved statue
the state of matter that ice is
hard from being frozen

Art and Design

Use lines to create a patterned back ground. Colour the background if you would like to make your design more attractive.  Then using a variety of recycled or new paper create shapes by cutting out to make the body parts for a bird.  Glue your bird or birds to your patterned back ground.

Remember if you would like to leave a comment via Twitter, it would be lovely to hear from you! Hopefully soon we’ll be up and running on Glow Teams- look out for your login details arriving in the post this week!

Have a good day and remember these are just suggestions.  Keep safe.

Primary 5 Room 10

Monday 27th April 2020

Good Morning Primary 5,

Happy Monday, I hope you all had a lovely weekend. I can’t believe we have made it to week 4 of learning from home! I am overwhelmed by how hard you have all been working and you continue to amaze me each day with your extremely positive mindsets 😁🌟🌈 I am so glad to see you all staying safe at home and spending quality time with your families.

Here are this weeks Home Learning Grids with some suggested activities for you to do each day. I will also send these to your GLOW emails and upload them to our Microsoft Teams page along with your Spelling Words. Please remember that these are suggestions and you do not have to complete every activity. Just do the best you can 😊

Literacy

  • Most of you seem to be enjoying Spelling City . I have assigned new activities with this weeks words. Spend 10-15minutes on them.
  • If the weather is nice, try to spell each of your spelling words outside with chalks, sticks, stones etc. Be creative! I can’t wait to see what you come up with 😊
  • Reading – Listen to David Walliams new story online (chapters 6-8): David Walliams Story and create a visualiser about the main character. Remember to include key facts, detailed descriptions and page numbers.

Maths

  • Log in to Sumdog every day to practise your quick recall for times tables.
  • Make a hundred square and highlight/colour all of the prime numbers.
  • Can you think of any other activities you could do with your hundred square?

Health & Well-being

  • Make a card or postcard for someone you miss or someone you want to say thanks to.
  • If you know their address you could even post it to them to cheer them up. I’m sure they would love to hear from you 😊💕

Have a great day, stay home and stay safe 🌈

Room 1 and Room 2

Good Morning boys and girls,

We hope you are all well and keeping safe. We really miss you all, but hope you are enjoying your home learning and all this lovely sunshine ☀️☀️.

The new learning grids for this week have been shared so choose some activities each day to try. Keep your brain and body active and remember lots of learning can happen during free play so it is OK to take some time for play too.

If you get your login for Glow then try logging in and looking at Microsoft Teams. We hope you’ll be able to share your learning with us there. It should make it easier to contact us if you need any help.

Take care,

Mrs Early, Mrs Mooney and Mrs Anderson

Home Learning Grid P1-3

Good morning everyone,

We hope you all had a lovely weekend. The weather was wonderful on Saturday ☀️☀️.

We have used the same format as last week with the mild, medium and spicy home learning grids for the boys and girls in Room 1, Room 3, Room 3 and Room 5 to choose from. Remember you can mix and match.

This week’s the theme is People Who Help Us, which is a lovely theme to think about right now when everyone is pulling together to help each other to stay safe.

Mild Home Learning Grid 🌶

Medium Home Learning Grid 🌶🌶

Spicy Home Learning Grid 🌶🌶🌶

For the spicy grid you might need these resources:

Wellbeing Web

Indoor Obstacle Course

You might get your details for Glow and Microsoft Teams at some point this week so take some time to explore logging on to that with the help of a grown up.

Do what you can, share what you can with us (we really do love it!) and stay safe.

Missing you all,

Mrs Early, Mrs Anderson, Mrs Mooney, Miss Mearns and Mrs Doyle
