Thank you for all of the kind donations for our Twinning School,ย Obomeng Primary.ย They were completely blown away by your generosity.
Unfortunately, the cost of sending the cases with the much needed resources is much more than we thought, so we desperately need your help to raise the funds to send them.
We hope to do this by having a dress down day on Tuesday. If every child brings ยฃ1 to school, we will be able to pay the cost of the additional luggage to be sent to Ghana.
Thank you for your support.

Did you know we support and are twinned with a school in Ghana?
We raise money each year to send to Obomeng Primary, as in Ghana all children must pay to access education. At Morningside Primary, we learn about the UNCRC Rights of the Child, and truly believe all children have the right to an education. Mrs Gordonโs class and the Fairtrade Committee sold rice which paid for a childโs education for a whole year. During Fairtrade week, the school raised ยฃ200 by wearing the Fairtrade colours. As a staff, we agreed to use part of the profit of the Christmas Fayre to add another ยฃ300 to that total, which will help source much needed equipment and resources.
On 18th June, staff from the school and church in Ghana will visit us. We are looking forward to meeting them and presenting them with the cheque. We also know that the children have very little stationary or resources in Ghana, so we have bought a suitcase which we would like to fill and send back with our friends. (By paying the excess baggage fee)
We are looking for donations of the following items to make a difference to the children of Ghana;
PENCILS
PENS COLOURED PENCILS SHARPENER RUBBERS RULERS POST ITS STICKY TAPE
Donation for excess baggage fee |
FELT PENS
BIRO PENS DRY WIPE ERASERS CHALK BALLOONS LIGHT BALLS AND A BALL PUMP STICKERS NOTE PADS |
Any help or donations would be greatly appreciated.
Many thanks,
Mrs Gordon and Mrs Molloy

The NSPCC are running an online safety workshop tomorrow, Thursday 14th June 3.30 – 4.30pm.
Very few parents have signed up and we would like to urge you to come along if you are available. (Especially parents with children in P4-7 but all welcome)
We deal with issues stemming from social media a great deal at school as so many of our pupils have access to Facebook, Instagram, Snapchat etc.
The workshop will help raise awareness of the dangers your child could face through the use of social media and help you gain a better understanding of how to keep them safe.
Please call the school if you would like to attend.
We hope to see as many of you as possible.

Primary 1 had a super afternoon investigating ย how far our snail ๐ย friends travelled by using โwoolโ as their non standard unit of measure.
Have a look at the data we gathered and displayed.ย ๐ย You can see from the different lengths of wool that our Red Snail ๐ย travelled the furthest. ๐๐ป
The children then enjoyed a walk to our local park to release our snails back into their natural habitat. โ ๐ณย ๐ย ๐๐ป
Well done P1a! ๐
