Social Studies, Science and Technology

Our aim is to provide for the progressive development of our pupils knowledge and understanding of the world in which they live. This in turn will encourage their development of attitudes and values, which are consistent with the care, and conservation of our environment. As the pupils explore the environment, they will study the following broad areas:

Social Studies

  • People, past events & societies
  • People, place & environment
  • People, society, economy & business

Science

  • Planet earth
  • Forces, electricity & waves
  • Biological systems
  • Materials
  • Topical Science

Technologies

  • Technological developments in society
  • ICT to enhance learning
  • Business contexts
  • Computing science contexts
  • Food and textiles contexts
  • Craft, design, engineering and graphics contexts

We have a range of resources for ICT, including a SmartBoard in each of the classes. Classrooms also have access to both Mac computers and PC laptops  in addition to iPads, which are timetabled for use in each class. All ICT hardware is used to support learning in other curricular areas.

Pupils have monitored access to the Internet, and use a range of staff approved websites including GLOW for personal research and curricular development.
