Dear Parents/Carers,
This information may be particularly relevant as snow is forecast and service delivery may be interrupted if we experience any severe weather conditions. Let’s hope that you do not need to use this information.
In severe weather, parents should make their arrangements taking account of the following:
- Travel to and from school may be difficult. Parents should check that their children can get to and from school safely before they set out.
- Some transport may not operate normally. Parental arrangements should take into account notified and unexpected cancellations. School bus may not be able to operate a normal service in severe weather. It may not be possible for school transport to pick up or drop off pupils in the normal locations and alternative arrangements, for example at a main road, may be necessary.
- Please note that the bus companies will make their own decision on travel arrangements and contact the HT.
Information will be updated on the North Lanarkshire website, www.northlanarkshire.gov.uk from approx. 7am.
Facebook and Twitter feeds @nlcwinter will also be updated.
Also keep an eye on our own twitter page @morningsideps and our website/blog glowscotland.gov.uk/nl/morningsideblog.
These feeds can be updated remotely by staff whereas our text system can only be updated from in school. This therefore relies on staff to be in school and text updates may not come through as quickly as twitter or blog updates.
Information will appear on the NLC website should schools need to close for any reason but this will only be in exceptional circumstances.
Information will also be broadcast on the radio through North Lanarkshire protocol procedures.
The school telephone number is 01698 274938. However, please check online for information before calling as phone lines will be busy and staff availability may be affected.
I hope you find this information useful as we are trying to plan ahead.
Yours Sincerely,
Jennifer Gardiner
Head Teacher
