At Kilsyth Primary School we are very proud of our school badge and our uniform. Children are encouraged to wear their uniform with pride.
All North Lanarkshire schools must have a dress code which encourages pupils to dress in a way which is appropriate to attendance at school. This dress code must not lead to direct or indirect discrimination on the grounds of race, religion, gender or disability. It is the expectation of the education authority that parents will be keen to support the dress code and written arrangements may be sought.
Clothing which is unacceptable in school under any circumstances.
This would include items which:-
- potentially, encourage faction (such as football colours)
- could cause offence (such as anti-religious symbolism or political slogans)
- could cause health and safety difficulties, such as loose fitting, dangling earrings
and other potentially dangerous jewellery
- are of flammable materials which may be a danger in certain classes (e.g. shell suits)
- could cause damage to flooring
- carry advertising, particularly for alcohol or tobacco; and
- could be used to inflict damage on other pupils or be used by others to do so.
Under no circumstances will pupils be deprived any educational benefit opportunity as a result of not wearing school uniform.
Our experience shows that the great majority of our parents prefer their children to be dressed in school uniform, believing that it makes for neatness of appearance and helps avoid rivalry in dressing for fashion.
Our school uniform is as follows:
Shirt/blouse/polo shirt:
Jumper/cardigan:
Skirt/Trouser/Pinafore:
Primary 7 pupils:
White
Royal Blue
Grey or Black
Purple jumper
P.E. Kit
For P.E. suitable clothing for safety and comfort must be worn.
White Polo Shirt or blue PE T-shirt
Blue Jumper
Black/Grey Jogging Trousers/Shorts
No football colours are allowed.
Additional Information
For Health and Safety reasons the only jewellery allowed in school is a watch and small stud earrings, both of which must be removed/covered up for P.E.
It would greatly assist the school if parents could NAME their child’s belongings, as all school uniform items look the same and children regularly misplace or leave their uniform in school.
