Primary 4 have been finding out about the Five Senses.  They had a visit from Guide Dogs for the Blind.  The puppy trainers told the class all about how the dogs are trained and about the difficulties faced by blind people.  Nesta and Isla were as good as gold and all the children were able to clap and pet the dogs.

Living Eggs
The school were excited to get a special delivery of living eggs last week. We all loved watching the eggs in the incubator and some of us were lucky enough to see a chick hatch! Tom saw one hatch and said when it came out, it had goo all over it! The girls’ football team saw one hatch just as they were waiting for their coach. The chick didn’t come out straight away. It broke the egg and the egg rocked and moved for a while. Eventually 7 chicks hatched and we have loved going to see them and hold them. All our chicks leave us today and we’ll be sad to see them go!
Primary 3/4 Health Week
The children in Primary 3/4 were very busy during our school’s Health Week. We were visited by a dental nurse who talked all about keeping our teeth and gums healthy. We also learned about the Eatwell plate from a visitor, Mrs Duncan, who taught us about the different food groups and why they are important. This is known as Food for Fitness. There was an opportunity to go on a smoothie bike and then drink the smoothie afterwards! As well as all this excitement, we had a visit from our friend Iain from Getting Better Together and we were able to perform the circus skills he taught us last term now that we are experts.
P5 Comic Relief
The whole school took part in a day of fundraising for comic relief where they participated in a danceathon. The children in primary 5 also completed other comic relief activities during the day and learned a lot about the charity. The children all had a chance to play a board game that described the difficulties of a child in Africa attending school. All of the children designed a new red nose for comic relief and came up with some great ideas, giving them names and superpowers. They also had a chance to create a red nose day monster using their knowledge from their shape topic. Throughout the day the children in primary 5 did a lot of dancing. Every time they heard a song they had a dance and in the afternoon the open area was transformed in to a dance floor where many of the children displayed some great moves. The children also attended a zumba class during the day.
