Synergy

Have the work station you need for no extra cost. This software allows you to control multiple computers from the same keyboard and mouse. This would be more use to a technician or to staff who wish to use a laptop and desktop machine at the same time. It’s cross platform so you can mix and match hardware configurations. It even allows copy and pasting between machines.

Microsoft Mouse Mischief

This looks quite cool (if you use Office 2007/2010). It allows you to create a interactive quiz using little more that a few extra mice. I am itching to try it the only fly in my ointment is only having 2003 installed on teacher machines.

Mouse Mischief integrates with Microsoft PowerPoint 2010 and Microsoft Office PowerPoint 2007, enabling you to insert questions, polls and drawing activity slides into your lessons.

Clonezilla

Like a lot of school’s we use Ghost for quick recovery of failed workstations. I am going to spend some time this year putting together a “free” solution to allow for ghost like recovery of all our workstations and laptops

I will be using a lot of OSS solutions but will use clonezilla to get started.
