Marshmallow Towers

A co-op learning task had surprising results this afternoon. Each co-op group had to build a tower made from a maximum of 6 pieces of spaghetti and 7 marshmallows. That was the easy part! The challenge was that the tower had to stand unsupported – a feat that proved difficult.

Well done everyone for the great team work and determination – everyone wanted to have the best tower. It was decided that each tower and team had several positive points and areas for improvement.

Have a look at our photographs for the results.

Pupil Council Conference

Today our Pupil Council reps attended the Pupil Council Conference in Gartlea Community Centre. They enjoyed meeting Pupil Council Reps from other schools in North Lanarkshire and joining in the fun activities.

They have returned to school with great information about Commonwealth Games celebrations and Health and Well-being.

check back soon for more information from Olivia and Jack.

W.B. 12.5.14

This week has already started off very busy. We had 4 girls represent our class in assembly, launching a milk drinking challenge; we are hoping to increase the number of milk drinkers in our school! Remember to bring that 10p for a healthy drink at a bargain price.

This week will see us finish our Fiction reading in Primary 7 before starting a non-fiction and media block. We will continue spelling revision and study sets 4, 5 and 6.

In maths we are working with Decimals and really looking closely at place value, we are also revising key areas of our maths knowledge.

This week we will complete our study of the Scottish Parliament.

In writing this week we will write a discursive text and complete some more entries of our e-portfolios.

Science at St. Margaret’s

We have taken part in the St. Margaret’s transition programme for Science. Over the 4 weeks we carried out and designed experiments in the Science Lab with Mrs. Reilly and Mr. Reynolds. It was a great introduction to Secondary School Science and we were very enthusiastic to carry out each task in the lab.

Junior Dragons’ Lair Final

Well done to our Junior Dragons’ Lair finalists, they attended New College Lanarkshire, Coatbridge Campus and presented their idea of ‘Caledonian Crumble’ to the Dragons. The Dragons were very impressed and liked the healthy twist on the traditional dessert that the girls put forward.
