Our Library can be found in the drum on the 2nd floor of the school. The librarian is Mrs McPhee. She looks forward to welcoming you to the library and helping you along your learning journey.
Mrs McPhee will be in school Tuesdays, Fridays and alternate Wednesdays.
The library is opened from 8.30am until 4pm (Tuesdays and alternate Wednesdays) and 8.30am -3.30pm ( Friday). The library is open at lunchtime. Those pupils attending a club may bring their lunch at the start of lunchtime.
Our (pupil) book group is held at lunchtime on Fridays. All are welcome to bring their lunch and come and join us.
Our staff book group meets once a month on a Tuesday at lunchtime.
If you have any suggestions of new clubs and activities that you would like to see taking place, please see Mrs McPhee who is always open to new ideas.

Until June school2022 Mrs Jenkins, our Library Assistant will be school Mondays, Thursdays and alternate Wednesdays.

Children’s Mental Health Awareness Week 7-13th February 2022
This year’s theme is Growing Together.
Each day during this week Mrs McPhee will highlight one of the books from the Shelf Help section of the library on Twitter. All books in this section may be borrowed.

Mrs McPhee will now be working in Irvine Royal Academy as well as in St Matthew’s. She will be at St Matthew’s on Tuesdays, Fridays and alternate Wednesdays (Wednesday 24th November at St Matthew’s)
The library will be open at lunchtime only on the days Mrs McPhee is in school. The Chess Club will now be held in Mr Coyle’s room on Mondays and Homework Club in Mrs Stevenston’s room on Wednesdays.
This week we celebrate Book Week Scotland. For a bit of fun we are asking you to take a picture of your pet reading and either email it to or drop off directly to Mrs McPhee –

From Monday 1st November Mrs McPhee will split her time between St Matthew’s and Irvine Royal Academies.
Mrs McPhee will be in St Matthew’s on Tuesdays, Fridays and alternate Wednesdays.
From the 1st November the Chess Club will be held in Mr Coyle’s room on Monday lunchtimes and the Homework Club in Mrs Stevenstone’s room on Wednesday lunchtimes.
Both book groups will now meet on Fridays at lunchtime, S2/4 early lunch and S1/3/5/6 late lunch.
We are looking forward to virtual sessions with author Victoria Williamson tomorrow (6th May) S1 and S2 pupils will have 2 sessions with Victoria in May.
Tomorrow’s session is largely based on Victoria’s book, The Boy with the Butterfly . Session 2 will be a creative writing session and will be held on 20th May.
