Term 2

Primary 5/6 are all excited about their learning in Term 2 which involves fractions, decimals, connectives, famous people from the past and a whole load of learning across the curriculum.

We are focusing on Social Studies as our topic this term and will be learning about Famous People from the Past.  This will involve researching and finding out about Explorers, Engineers, World Leaders and Inventors who have all had a significant impact on the world.

This term in numeracy we will be learning about fractions, decimals and percentages.  We will be using a variety of contexts for learning including measure and money.  Mrs Williams will be developing the money side of this further on a Thursday.

In literacy we will be using our topic as a context for our learning and will be focusing on report findings, creating information leaflets, posters and also developing our talking and listening skills by giving a presentation about a famous person from today.  This term our reading will be centred around our guided reading sessions as well as reading a variety of non-fiction texts for our topic.

In art will will be using a variety of media to create posters and designs of some of our famous people from the past – keep an eye on our pictures section to see our creative designs.

This term we will also be visiting Eglinton Park on 3rd November to learn about the Water Cycle.

As ever, in Term 2 we will be practising lots for our Christmas concert.  This will involve getting together with the other P5 and P6 classes and practising our songs to make sure we are pitch perfect!
