What Do Seeds Need to Grow?- Results

Taking a closer look at the seeds which were growing in the cupboard with no light.

Each tub from the cupboard had signs of growth. Robert’s sweetpea seed was very long, white and skinny.

The different seedlings all had tiny pale leaves and white stems. We thought the stems should have been green.

There was a tiny petunia seedling just starting to grow in one of the tubs on the shelf.

These tubs have been sitting on the windowsill getting lots of light. The soil was very dry and we think this might be the reason some seeds didn’t grow.

Oscar’s marigold has a small green stem with two healthy green leaves. Holly’s petunia seedlings are just starting to grow and have small dark green leaves.

We think that the seeds grew in the dark cupboard because the soil was less dry.

We think that to have healthy seedlings they need sunshine to turn green.

We decided to see what would happen if they were all put on the windowsill and given more water. Watch this space!
