Scottish Maths Challenge

We have a small group of children in the class who are in a national Maths competition. They have to solve three brain teasing problems all on their own. They have to write down all their working to show how they’ve solved the problems. We got Round 1 results last week and Becca is in the lead. Well done, Becca!

Library Visit

As part of our Literacy we went to Saltcoats Library. We completed some challenges about the Harry Potter book we’re studying this term and also learned how to find our way round the library. Some of us didn’t realise the many things on offer at the library – Homework club, DVDs, Teenage book section and many other things. We thoroughly enjoyed our visit and look forward to going back later in the year. The staff were all really helpful and kind. Thank you.

Arran Aromatics Challenge

We have designed our own products for Arran Aromatics and presented them to the rest of the class.  We named our groups : The 6 Musketeers, The Troops, Beauty Unleashed, Sweet Scentsations and Luscious Lynx. After we presented our products we had a question and answer session which really made us think more about what we are selling. This was a great way to make us think about running a business as some of us would like to do this when we’re older. After our presentation we did a self assessment to comment on how we are getting on. We loved this.

Macmillan Coffee Morning

We raised a fantastic £230 at last week’s Macmillan coffee morning. We worked really hard baking, washing dishes, serving and welcoming our visitors. “I’m amazed that we raised so much money,” said Caleb. “We are really proud of what we’ve achieved,” added Emily. “I’m delighted with how mature and hard-working everyone has been,” commented Mrs Breen.
