We have an excellent partnership with our local secondary school, Greenwood Academy.
All pupils in Primary 7 benefit from an extensive programme of transition activities and opportunities throughout the school year to prepare them for the exciting challenges that await them when they embark on their secondary education.
Prior to beginning S1, all children will have the chance to meet key staff members from Greenwood Academy who will guide and support them in their new setting. They will take part in assemblies and school visits to help them to feel comfortable in their new environment. Family information sessions are also provided to ensure that parents and carers are fully involved in the process. Key transition dates are shared with families throughout the school year.
In addition to the above opportunities, our teachers and senior leadership team work closely with Greenwood Academy staff to share all relevant information in order to support each individual pupil to succeed.
We are also extremely fortunate to have the support of our Area Inclusion Worker, Dianne Frew. Dianne supports children who require enhanced transition to secondary school through school visits and meetings across the year. She is an invaluable link between primary and secondary.
