Environmental Review Summary 2019
Every year we complete an Environmental Review. Members of the Eco Committee lead this, but adults and children from across the school are asked to contribute their views. We fill out the official Eco Schools Environmental Review documents that cover all areas of environmental impact, including litter, biodiversity, waste and energy.
Key Strengths:
- We’ve done lots of work to improve our school grounds, including gardening and developing our play areas.
- Our energy rating is A+. This is the best possible rating. It’s means we’re carbon neutral.
- Lots more pupils are cycling and scooting to school.
- We’ve got enough bins now.
- We work with lots of local businesses and community groups.
- Our Rights Respecting Schools work. We’re working towards ‘Gold Level’.
- We work closely with St. Mary’s Primary.
- Everyone in the school is involved in what we do. Pupils, parents and staff.
- We help to look after the local community: organising beach cleans and litter picks.
Areas for development:
- Pupils will engage in more outdoor learning.
- Develop quiet and relaxing outdoor spaces for everyone to enjoy.
- Establish a wormery/compost bin.
- Encourage wildlife to visit our campus.
- Conduct wildlife surveys.
- Provide opportunities for children to engage in mindfulness and other relaxation techniques.
- Promote the message ‘Grow and Eat Your Own’.
